Mission Statement: The mission of the Saguache County Landfill & Recycling Department is to protect the health and safety of all citizens by disposing of all waste generated in Saguache County in the most efficient, cost-effective, and environmentally sound manner possible. We provide the citizens of Saguache County with an environmentally sound Landfill and manage the recycling program that includes tires, household recyclables, and white goods.
The State of Colorado requires us to close the landfill during inclement weather. Suppose high winds or blowing snow are forecasted for the day. In that case, we recommend waiting until another day to visit the landfill, especially if traveling a long distance as we cannot promise to be open when you arrive (even if you called and we were open at the time of the phone call). Call 719-221-1956 to inquire about our open status during windy and snowy days.

Saguache County Landfill Information:
• All loads must be covered and secure or will be charged a hefty fee.
• All vehicles are required to stop at the Office on the way in and on the way out.
• Please wait in line in your vehicle and pull forward to the office, as the line proceeds.
• Recyclables are accepted and are charged at the same rate as regular trash.
•. Recycling is not Free.
• Speed limit is 10 MPH
• Please yield to all landfill equipment.
• Children under 10 must remain in the vehicle.
• For the Safety and Health of all visitors, SCAVENGING is prohibited!
• We cannot assist in unloading.
• All vehicles are subject to random inspections.
• All Landfill Attendants have the right to refuse any or all trash loads
