Saguache County Social Services - Eligibility Technician

Eligibility Technician - Saguache County Department of Social Services

Starting pay is $17.85 per hour. With potential for higher compensation based on experience and qualifications. 

 

JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for completing intake and assessment for the determination eligibility for public assistance.  Eligibility determination is for a limited caseload of one or more categories of assistance including Colorado Works/TANF, Health First Colorado (Medicaid) and Food Assistance/SNAP.

 

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION:

Required

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Must have valid Driver's License
  • Must be able to pass the Colorado Benefit Management System (CBMS) test through the State SDC training for all Programs as follows:  Health First Colorado (Medicaid), Adult Financial, and Food Assistance. 
  • Must also successfully pass the Food Assistance CAPER testing.  This is required to gain system access.

 

 

Preferred but not required

  • Four years related experience and/or training in general office, customer service, including two years in public financial assistance and/or as an Income Technician/Case Manager; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Deputy Director is responsible to support the director on daily operations of the organization and for ensuring that all programs and services are delivered in an effective and efficient mannerThe Assistant Director reports directly to the Director to ensure that the organization is meeting its strategic objectives. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of senior management experience.They will have a proven track record in organizational management, program development and delivery, financial management and human resources. Saguache County Social Services - Social Caseworker

Summary:
Saguache County is seeking a Social Caseworker for the Saguache County Department of Human Services. Position provides a full range of intake and/or ongoing social casework services for a variety of Title XX program areas such as child abuse and neglect cases, youth-in-conflict cases, and adults unable to protect their own interests.
This position will be 40 hours per week and will come with the Saguache County Benefit Package which includes health insurance, dental and vision insurance, and a generous
retirement package. The beginning rate will be $24/hr. Bachelor’s degree in one of the human behavioral science fields. One year of full-time professional social casework experience acquired after the degree in a public or private social services agency in a service delivery assignment appropriate to the position. May substitute Master’s degree in one of the human behavioral science fields.

WORKING HOURS

SUMMARY

Manages, organizes and certifies the distribution of food for The Emergency Food Assistance Program

(TEFAP) and Colorado Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) to the residents and seniors of Saguache County who qualify for the current requirements of the programs.

 

Advertising and scheduling volunteer and help will include working with other State programs run by the Saguache County Social Services.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

High school diploma or GED equivalent. Experience and working knowledge in Word and Excel, organizational skills for inventory management and reporting required. Must have a valid driver's license and be able to drive a vehicle pulling a trailer.

Help Wanted: Road & Bridge Operator I

WANTED:  Saguache County Road and Bridge is hiring for Operator I positions….starting at $20.39/hour for those with a CDL License

REQUIREMENTS:  Applicants must have a current valid Commercial Driver License (CDL).  Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED and six months or more of relevant experience.  Prospective employees applying with Saguache County, please note that the chosen candidate will be required to submit to and pass a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check, before being hired.

In addition to the hourly rate, the County Employee benefit package includes vision, dental, and health insurance coverage, paid time off, and a generous 401a retirement plan.          

Operator I is a full-time position – applicants must be able to operate light and heavy equipment and perform manual labor in the maintenance, repair, and minor construction of roads, streets, bridges, signs, markings, and related facilities.  Applicants must be physically capable of working in extremely hot and/or cold weather conditions, physically capable of periods of sustained physical exertion and may be required to lift and move up to 75 lbs. to 150 lbs.

Help Wanted: Personal Care Providers (PCP)

Saguache County Public Health is hiring Personal Care Providers (PCPs). PCPs go into the homes of people who need help with cleaning, laundry, cooking meals, medication reminders, medical devices, and many other needed chores.

Applicants are required to pass a drug test, including marijuana, and a background check.  Applicants are also given a knowledge, skills, and abilities check to ensure they can lift at least 10-15 lbs. safely. Volunteer Weather Observers Needed!

The Saguache County Road & Bridge Department is looking for a few volunteer weather observers in the Crestone/Baca area.  These “eyes on the ground” volunteers will “see and report” on road conditions when heavy snowstorms and other inclement weather situations arise.  Volunteer weather observer reporting will help us ensure that our limited resources can be routed to the areas of need, resulting in a combined effort to keep roadways passible and safe for travel.  If you have an interest in weather and/or an interest in helping keep roadways safe, then give us a call at 719-655-2554 and get your name added to our list of weather observers!
