Help Wanted: Shop Mechanic

Saguache County Road and Bridge is looking to hire a Shop Mechanic….Starting at $22.09 per hour 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:  Applicant must possess a current Class-A CDL license.  Applicant should have a high school diploma or GED equivalent, along with extensive knowledge of vehicles, equipment, and mechanical maintenance procedures.  Prospective employees applying with Saguache County, please note that the chosen candidate will be required to submit and pass a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check before being hired.     

      
Shop Mechanic is a full-time hourly position – works under the guidance of the Shop-Foreman.  Qualified candidates will be able to perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled work in maintaining the small power equipment, vehicles, medium-duty, and heavy-duty equipment of the Road & Bridge Department, Landfill, and other county administration vehicles.  Candidates can test, service, and repair vehicles and perform all duties conforming to appropriate safety and security standards.


In addition to the hourly rate, the County Employee benefits package includes vision, dental, and health insurance coverage, paid time off, and a generous 401a retirement plan.

Help Wanted: Social Services Bookkeeper

Job Summary: 

This position involves complex accounting and finance functions including processing accounts payable, program payments, and accounts receivable; reconciling and balancing accounts; data processing activities and programs; and assisting in budget preparation.

 

Supervision: 

Receives direct supervision from the Human Services Director. This position does not supervise others.

 

Essential Functions: 

- Assist the Director with daily office duties.

- Manage time clock and employees’ entries.

- Onboard and offboard employees in the state Identity Manager System.

- Review and verify cash receipts and electronically received payments.

- Allocate “Misc. Receipts” in the General Ledger.

- Review and verify invoices, ensuring proper approval and coding.

- Process accounts payable transactions to maintain up-to-date finances.

- Submit 1099-related information to the State at year end.

- Process Child Care Payment information.

- Enter Payroll information into CFMS reporting software.

- Report expense information and prepare journals for EBT/ER.

- Assist in developing and reviewing contracts, agreements, and grant applications.

- Maintain central files of DHS contracts, agreements, and grants.

- Provide documentation to auditors and assist in audit preparation.

- Prepare and assist in the annual DHS budget and monitor expenses.

 

Other Duties: 

- Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

- Any combination of education, training, and experience providing required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

- Valid state driver’s license.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

- Principles of accounting, governmental accounting, and audit processes.

- Double-entry bookkeeping and internal control procedures.

- Management information systems.

- Budget development, management, and fiscal planning.

- Standard accounting and bookkeeping practices.

 

Tools and Equipment Used: 

- Desktop computer, 10-key calculator, photocopier/scanner, shredder, passenger vehicle, telephone.

 

Physical Demands: 

- Ability to move within the office and lift/carry up to 20 pounds.

- Vision requirements include close, distance, color vision, and depth perception.

- Hearing ability to communicate via telephone and in person.

Experienced individual needed for On Call Part time position assisting the Saguache County Coroner. The position will be an on call/as needed position.  Coroner calls are paid at $150.00 per call and Transports are $150.00 per call, Weekday on call $15.00 per day and Weekend on call $30.00 per day. Help Wanted: On-Site Wastewater Treatment System Inspector

The On-Site Wastewater Treatment System Inspector for Saguache County is responsible for maintaining and enforcing public health regulations relating to the community’s environmental health.  Through investigation, inspection, education and enforcement, the On-Site Wastewater Treatment System Inspector takes action to mitigate or eliminate public health hazards.  Inspections and investigations occur indoors and outdoors facilities such as residential homes, restaurants, swimming pools, public schools, penal institutions, childcare facilities, nursing homes, body art facilities, cannabis/hemp facilities, campgrounds, mobile home parks, public accommodations, bars/lounges, etc. On-Site Wastewater Treatment System Inspectors are assigned primary responsibilities in specific environmental programs but are required to possess knowledge of all programs in order to respond to public health emergencies.
 
Starting salary of $25/hour depending on experience and qualifications. Operator I is a full-time position – applicants must be able to operate light and heavy equipment and perform manual labor in the maintenance, repair, and minor construction of roads, streets, bridges, signs, markings, and related facilities.  Applicants must be physically capable of working in extremely hot and/or cold weather conditions, physically capable of periods of sustained physical exertion and may be required to lift and move up to 75 lbs. to 150 lbs.

Help Wanted: Personal Care Providers (PCP)

Saguache County Public Health is hiring Personal Care Providers (PCPs). PCPs go into the homes of people who need help with cleaning, laundry, cooking meals, medication reminders, medical devices, and many other needed chores.

Applicants are required to pass a drug test, including marijuana, and a background check.  Applicants are also given a knowledge, skills, and abilities check to ensure they can lift at least 10-15 lbs. safely. Volunteer Weather Observers Needed!

The Saguache County Road & Bridge Department is looking for a few volunteer weather observers in the Crestone/Baca area.  These “eyes on the ground” volunteers will “see and report” on road conditions when heavy snowstorms and other inclement weather situations arise.  Volunteer weather observer reporting will help us ensure that our limited resources can be routed to the areas of need, resulting in a combined effort to keep roadways passible and safe for travel.  If you have an interest in weather and/or an interest in helping keep roadways safe, then give us a call at 719-655-2554 and get your name added to our list of weather observers!
