Help Wanted: Social Services Director

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the administration, monitoring, supervision, and performance of the county Department of Human Services programs, as mandated by federal and state laws and regulations and by county directives. Oversee the daily operations of the Department of Human Services. Plans, make decisions, and take appropriate action on issues as they arise, both internally and externally. Manages fiscal, human, and other resources to effectively provide mandated services to the public.


The salary will depend on qualifications will start at $55,00, this position is FLSA Exempt Status.

QUALIFICATIONS:


Master's degree preferred; bachelor's degree required in the field of sociology, education, public or business administration, or closely related field. Combinations of experience and education may be accepted.
 

Minimum of five (5) years managerial experience responsible for the provision of human service programs. Knowledge of organizational structure, program development, and functions of federal, state, and local human service programs, including budget and finance, with particular reference to their implications at the county level.
Knowledge and familiarity with management practices and procedures, budgeting and financial management, public administration, and personnel management. Thorough knowledge of Colorado's social service laws and regulations.


Knowledge of principles and practices of social casework, social welfare administration, social research, and community economic, social and health resources.
 

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other county departments, community groups and agencies, and members of the public. Ability to maintain high ethical standards and professionalism when interacting with community members, clients, and members of the public.

PHYSICAL CONDITIONS: 
 
Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting for prolonged periods of time and travel to and from various destinations. 
 
REQUIREMENTS:

Valid Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license is required. 

Help Wanted: Administrative/Grants Assistant

Saguache County Public Health Office has an opening for an Administrative/Grants Assistant:

 

Experience as an Administrative/Grants Assistant is desired but not essential. This is a full-time
position (32-40 hours per week). (The position is grant funded and could end or have hours
reduced depending on grant funding). The position will require working with our grants, schools,
other agencies as well as doing other administrative duties as needed and assigned. Computer
skills include Microsoft Word, Excel, etc. and bi-lingual are a plus.
 
This is a full-time position with health insurance, vision and dental benefits as well as a generous
retirement plan.

Help Wanted: Income Maintenance Technician

The Saguache County Department of Social Services is now accepting applications for the position of Income Maintenance Technician. This role involves determining eligibility and delivering benefits for Medicaid, Food Assistance, Colorado Works, and other income assistance programs.

Help Wanted: Part-Time Deputy Coroner

Experienced individual needed for On Call Part time position assisting the Saguache County Coroner. The position will be an on call/as needed position.  Coroner calls are paid at $150.00 per call and Transports are $150.00 per call, Weekday on call $15.00 per day and Weekend on call $30.00 per day. Help Wanted: On-Site Wastewater Treatment System Inspector

This position is responsible for maintaining and enforcing public health regulations relating to the community’s environmental health.  Through investigation, inspection, education and enforcement, the On-Site Wastewater Treatment System Inspector takes action to mitigate or eliminate public health hazards.  Inspections and investigations occur indoors and outdoors facilities such as residential homes, restaurants, swimming pools, public schools, penal institutions, childcare facilities, nursing homes, body art facilities, cannabis/hemp facilities, campgrounds, mobile home parks, public accommodations, bars/lounges, etc. On-Site Wastewater Treatment System Inspectors are assigned primary responsibilities in specific environmental programs but are required to possess knowledge of all programs in order to respond to public health emergencies. 

 

Salary to be determined on experience starting at $37,000/year. Applicants must have a valid Colorado Drivers License, must pass a criminal background check as well as a pre-employment drug test.

Help Wanted: Personal Care Providers (PCP)

Saguache County Public Health is hiring Personal Care Providers (PCPs). PCPs go into the homes of people who need help with cleaning, laundry, cooking meals, medication reminders, medical devices, and many other needed chores.

Applicants are required to pass a drug test, including marijuana, and a background check.  Applicants are also given a knowledge, skills, and abilities check to ensure they can lift at least 10-15 lbs. safely. Volunteer Weather Observers Needed!

The Saguache County Road & Bridge Department is looking for a few volunteer weather observers in the Crestone/Baca area.  These “eyes on the ground” volunteers will “see and report” on road conditions when heavy snowstorms and other inclement weather situations arise.  Volunteer weather observer reporting will help us ensure that our limited resources can be routed to the areas of need, resulting in a combined effort to keep roadways passible and safe for travel.  If you have an interest in weather and/or an interest in helping keep roadways safe, then give us a call at 719-655-2554 and get your name added to our list of weather observers!
